1. Should you buy/do you need a water heater?

There are basically three reasons to buy a water heater:

1. Your water heater is broken and it cannot be repaired or is not worth repairing.
2. The hot water needs of your household have increased, and your old water heater no longer provides sufficient hot water.
3. You are tired of paying high energy bills, and have determined that a tankless water heater is a good long-term investment.

Any one of these reasons could motivate you to purchase a new water heater. You'll also need a service professional who is available to install it in your home as soon as possible.

The biggest advancement in water heaters are tankless water heaters. They are a relatively recent advancement, but they are already becoming a very popular alternative to gas or electric storage tank water heaters.
Tankless water heaters can be installed to replace storage tank water heaters, multiple tankless water heaters can be installed to work in tandem in homes that use a high volume of hot water, and tankless water heaters can be installed to work with storage tank water heaters.
Although not yet very common, some home owners are using solar energy to provide some or all of the power to warm their hot water.
