Soapstone Countertops

A natural stone that is also known as soaprock.  Soapstone is mainly composed of talc and may feel soapy to the touch and that is where the name comes from.  Soapstone has a rich tradition and was used by the Inuit culture.

Pros – has a unique natural beauty that can be found in deep dark colors.   

Cons – not as hard as granite or marble and can chip and crack and scratch.  Soapstone also requires periodic maintenance because it must be oiled.
